The business challenge was to design and implement structured network cabling at two of the clients properties, accounting for 900 rooms and public areas. All this to do in a limited and stringent time frame due to a high occupancy rate of the properties. The rooms once allocated to the job to complete to the exacting standards of the group, with a certain SLA and time frame. The wireless devices should be strategically placed in order to provide the maximum coverage inconspicuously. Extra care also required when working in public areas due to almost 24/7 staff, patrons and guests traffic.
The properties were old and had a certain charm due to its unique architectural styles and therefore care was necessary for not making an alteration to the wall skirtings while laying cables against the adjacent areas. The monsoons and Ganapati festival also added another variable to monitor in the successful completion of the herculean task.
Access panels installed on each floor hosted surface mounted wall jacks inside of the ceiling to keep the continuity of the design. The riser cables minimized by consolidating cables to patch panels, neatly tied using zip ties. The numerous access points on every floor provided 4 times broader area coverage and uninterrupted wireless connection, connected to the switches using the CAT6e cables. The switch cables patched with the gateway (using patch panels) located at the IT control center of the hotels on the ground floor. The cable concealers, with easy to follow installation instructions proved a perfect fit for managing messy cables and an alternative to cutting giant holes in the walls. The cord cover kit blends with any décor and painted with any color to match the décor.
The installation of structured cable network made the properties more than a bed and board establishment. It enhanced customer browsing experience as the guest could now enjoy a fuller spectrum of amenities and services. Extra care of customers comfort was taken by working late nights when the traffic was minimum.A newly installed network capability increased staff efficiency which resulted in higher ratings on travel sites like TripAdvisor and Expedia. After the successful installation and operation of the network system in Mumbai properties, the Oberoi properties in Bangalore and New Delhi followed suit.
